For a materials innovation exhibition in Los Angeles, we proposed a green house in which the temperature would remain below 21C throughout the entire summer while still maintaining the typical light transmission of green houses.

A self-activated movable structure and a water-recycling system control both moisture content and sun exposure of the greenhouse. The structure moves with linear activators that utilize materials with a high coefficient of thermal expansion.

Precedents are time-tested techniques as found in solar updraft towers utilized in the gulf region and fog collectors utilized in the mountains of Peru.

The height and shape of the greenhouse determines the air exchange rate. The air moisture content additionally controls air temperature.
